DAHLGREN —
Betty L. (Zachman) Kennedy, 81, of Dahlgren, passed away 3:25 p.m. Jan. 20, 2012, at McLeansboro Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
She was born June 15, 1930, in Mt. Vernon to Ted and Emma (Karcher) Zachman.
Betty married Dalph Dennis Kennedy on Nov. 6, 1948, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Dahlgren. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1986.
Her funeral will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at St. John’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Slawomir Ptak officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Donna Kennedy of Everett, Wash., and Denise Fushi of Glenview; 11 grandchildren, Melissa, Sean, Michael, David, Cindy, David and Daniel (Denny), Heather (Donna), Alexandra, Jessica and John (Denise); two great-grandchildren, Sean Jr. and Georgia (Sean); two brothers, Frank Zachman and wife Patsy of Dahlgren and Eddie Zachman and wife Lorene of Decatur; sister-in-law Pauline Kennedy of Dahlgren; brother-in-law Richard Kennedy of Mt. Vernon; godson David Lee Zachman of Decatur; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two infant sisters, Marie and Clara; in-laws Orvell and Daisy (Bright) Kennedy; brother-in-law Ralph Kennedy; sister-in-law Lois (Hall) Kennedy; infant granddaughter Shari Lynn (Denny); son-in-law John Sorrentino; and her only son, Denny L. Kennedy.
Betty was a member of St. Anne’s Altar Society and St. John’s Catholic Church in Dahlgren.
